Having a house with three children, there’s times when things need fixing and so, out comes my tool box and I search until I find a tool that looks like it’ll do the job. It’s the same with decorating, new furniture and doing up the house, we need tools to get everyone up and looking nice.
So, I decided to have a look around and stock up on all those tools that I might need when one of these situation arises. FFX offer a huge range of all those tools that you might ever need and so I started looking so I could fill up my ever growing tool box.
I knew that we’d need a whole set of screwdrivers as there are so many different sizes and types of screws, so it’s good to have as many as possible so you can find one to fit. I picked out the Sealey S01090 Screwdriver Hex Key & Bit Set which has 44 pieces in it. It has a selection of popular sized screwdrivers, hex keys, bit driver and bits which have Chrome Vanadium satin finish shafts with shot blasted and magnetized tips. The handles are contoured with a soft grip and are colour-coding for fast identification.
As well as having a huge screwdriver set, I thought it would be best to get a ratchet set as they are so much easier when doing menial tasks. I chose the Draper RBS35 35 Piece Ratchet Screwdriver, Socket and Bit Set as this comes with a special thumb grip which gives up to 25% more torque. The set comprises 24 insert bits, three nut runners, five 1/4″ square drive sockets and 60mm long magnetic bit holder.
I know my dad is always banging on about certain brands and when I saw the Silverline name, I knew he’d be telling me to buy them. So I went for a Silverline SP1236 Combination Spanner Set and also a Silverline 427610 3 Piece Pliers Set.
The spanner set has 12 spanners ranging from sizes 8 to 19mm and comes in a storage rack. The set of pliers includes long nose, combination and side-cutting pliers which all have hardened and tempered jaws with induction-hardened cutting edges.
To end, I picked out a few packs of nails, screws and a plastic storage organiser to hold them all. Not only does it give us them for when we need some spares, but it means that I can easily fix something that is broken with a couple of screws and my new ratchet screwdriver.
I love buying home hardware, but it can be difficult narrowing down the list of things that are necessary so they don't end up just taking up space. Great article, thank you!
