If like us, you are thinking about updating your kitchen why not consider one or more of the following ideas.
Decorate
Now is the perfect time to give your kitchen a fresh new look. Choosing the right kitchen paint can be a difficult task. You could choose a light neutral colour or go for a bold colour to make a feature wall stand out. We have a large wall in our kitchen that is currently painted magnolia. It’s very plain and boring so I think this will be the first thing to be changed in our kitchen. I’ve not decided on a colour as yet, but my neighbour’s wall is painted with a glitter infused grey paint and it looks lovely – although not to my taste I can see why she has it.
Replace the flooring
One way to give your kitchen an update is to replace your existing flooring. You could opt for vinyl flooring, stone effect flooring, laminate or solid wood flooring – be sure to treat your wood accordingly to ensure that it will last and not get damaged.

Purchase smart appliances
If you are looking to update some of your appliances why not upgrade them to smart appliances. Why not replace your kettle with a smart kettle, you could have it boiling for the minute you walk through the door so you can make yourself a cuppa before starting the dinner? Perhaps a smart washing machine is on your list so that you can set it to wash when needed.
You might decide to swap any lightbulbs in your kitchen (or throughout your home) for LED lightbulbs instead. You will be able to control your lighting wirelessly and if you are working late or are away on a holiday, you will be able to turn your lights on and off via your smart app.
Keep your kitchen efficient and sparkling
If there’s one essential kitchen product that will make your life so much better in many ways, it’s a water softener. This fantastic and straightforward product will fit neatly under your sink and free your kitchen and home from limescale. Limescale is enemy number one in homes that are in hard water areas. It damages pipework, appliances, surfaces, taps and more, resulting in an unsightly crust, excessive cleaning and costs you more energy as the build of scale reduces your boilers and appliances’ efficiency. By installing a water softener, you will benefit from kitchen (and bathroom) surfaces and taps that are crust free, your kettle will use less power and your tea will look and taste so much better. And what’s more, over time the existing limescale build-up will break down. It’s a win-win all around, saving you money, time, and keeping your kitchen looking sparkly and new.
Update your cupboards
If you like your kitchen unit layout and there’s still plenty of life left in the cupboards, you could update them with a lick of special paint. There are lots of specialised paint available these days that will leave you spoilt for choice. If you don’t like / want to paint them you can have them wrapped to give them a whole new look.
Update your worktops
You might decide that you don’t want to change anything about your cupboards other than your kitchen worktops. Again, there are lots of choices out there for you to have a look at.
