Thinking of travelling the world? 2022 could be your year! Sure, travel may have been off the cards for a while because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Governments around the world closed their borders or severely limited travel across their borders in order to slow the spread of the virus. But now that vaccines have been taken around the world and many people are gaining immunity to the virus, travel is back on and people are jetting off around the world once more. If you’re looking for excitement or if you’re looking to take a break from the dull routine of day to day life, you may be considering an adventure of your own. 2022 is the year to do it. Why delay? Here’s some information that will help you to arrange your trips!
To Travel With the Kids or Not
When you have children, you have a lot more responsibility than the average backpacker, who can just up and leave. If you’re planning travel around the world, you’re going to have to incorporate them into your planning process and make sure that you’re making the right decision for them. Now, there are a number of ways that this can work. Just because you have kids doesn’t necessarily mean that you can never leave the country again. Perhaps the best way to travel when you have kids is to embrace short term travel – holidays, trips and vacations. You can choose to take your little ones with you, making it a family friendly break, or if you want to engage in activities that might not be child-friendly or age appropriate for your little ones (extreme sports, staying in the wilderness and more), you may want to arrange childcare and head away without the kids for a break. It’s much easier to arrange childcare for shorter trips and also means your kids won’t miss you as much, helping you to avoid missing milestones or impacting your bond with them.
Of course, you can travel long term with children, seeing as nothing is impossible. But you do also need to consider their wellbeing in this. Children tend to thrive in stable environments with routine, surrounded by a support group such as family, and attending the same school for as long as possible.
Passports
Many of us haven’t been away for a while, so it’s important that you check your passport to ensure that it’s in date. An out of date passport might not be renewed in time for a trip if you notice too late – or you could find yourself having to travel to a passport office and paying a premium amount to be able to get an urgent passport processed. So, take some time to pull out your passport and ensure that it has plenty of time left on it. Remember that many countries need your passport to have six months of travel time left on it by the time you leave the country too.
Vaccines
Vaccine is a word that we’ve heard more over the past two years than ever before. Many countries have individual regulations regarding whether you need to be vaccinated against Covid-19 or not in order to enter their borders. Some require full vaccination. Some will allow you to enter without being vaccinated if you have a recovery certificate, showing that you have had Covid recently and have recovered from it, so likely have immunity. Some will allow you to enter unvaccinated and without a recovery certificate if you take a PCR test within a certain number of hours before your trip. Make sure to look into your chosen destination’s specific restrictions to ensure you have the right documentation and testing to be able to enter hassle-free.
Remember that you still need regular travel vaccines while you are away too. Many countries have different viruses and conditions that you may not have been exposed to in your home country and you will need to be vaccinated against them to avoid growing ill during your trip. Common travel vaccines include cholera, diphtheria, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, meningococcal meningitis and more. If you’re spending time in rural areas or coming into contact with wildlife, you may also need rabies vaccines. Research your chosen destination and ask your doctor for further advice.
Consider the Type of Trip You Want
There are countless types of trip that you can go on – and the right one to suit you will depend entirely on what you’re looking to get out of your break. You may want to go on a city break to see museums, art galleries, tourist sights and more. You might want a relaxing beach break by the pool in an all-inclusive hotel where your every need is catered to. You may consider a bike tour. You can click here to see bike tours across Europe. You might want to camp out in the wilderness underneath the stars, immersing yourself in nature. Take some time to consider what you want to do and experience, and this should guide you in the right direction.
Create an Itinerary
All too many of us head away without a clue what we will do while we’re there. But creating an itinerary in advance will help you to make the most of your time while you’re actually on your trip. It can help you to book attractions in advance, saving money and skipping queues. It can ensure you know where there are nice restaurants to dine. It can help you to plan transport between different places on your trip. The list goes on. It can be as detailed or as loose as you want it to be. What’s important is that your travel itinerary gives you a vague idea of what you want to do on your trip to make sure you make the most of every moment you’re away.
These are just a few travel tips that can really make all the difference when it comes to planning a great trip for 2022! Give them a try and see how you benefit from them!
