Thomas & Friends Alpha-Phonics and Flip & Learn Phone Review

A blue Thomas & Friends Flip & Learn Phone and tablet sit on a fuzzy grey carpet. The tablet features various character buttons, whilst the phone shows Thomas the Tank Engine and the Thomas & Friends logo.

Thomas the Tank Engine is a favourite programme for the boys to watch and so when J was sent the Thomas Flip & Learn Phone and the matching Learn with Thomas Alpha-Phonics toys, I knew that he’d love them.

As a lover of anything technology based, J is loving playing with both toys – the Thomas Flip & Learn Phone has been glued to his ear ever since he got it from the box.

The Thomas Flip & Learn Phone is a chunky classic flip-up phone in blue, with a backlit answer screen and image of Thomas and Percy. You can call Thomas and his Sodor friends to hear their greetings and chat to them.
It also includes games to help children with number and colour recognition. I have a little camera button so that kids can even pretend to take pictures with it – no more stealing my phone and leaving millions of photos for me to find!

I personally think the Thomas & Friends Learn with Thomas Alpha-Phonics toy is great as it’s all about learning through play. Children can learn letters, sounds, and spelling with the Thomas Alpha-phonics toy whilst playing with their favourite characters.
The easy-to-handle system features every letter in upper and lower case for quicker recognition which is great as many times I’ve bought one of these toys to find they only work in uppercase which is harder for younger children to understand.

Children can select from Seven different play modes, including musical activities and play patterns to help memory and off they go playing. J seems to like the musical activities at the moment and it’s great to see him pressing buttons and then copying what is been said.
Overall, I am impressed with both toys and think they’ll both be loved, and used, by J to help him learn about numbers, colours and memory games whilst playing with his favourite character!

  1. Love the camera button idea! Nothing like deleting 200 blurry photos from your phone lol. Don't tell but I love Thomas as much as my kids did….
