A new infographic provides an at-a-glance overview of the entire Harry Potter series. The resource provides the date of every single film, as well as several of the key events that contributed to the creation of those films, and the creation of Warner Bros. Studio Tour itself.
The Warner Bros. Studio Tour opened shortly after the conclusion of the films, in 2012, and has provided ardent Harry Potter fans with a place to continue the magic ever since. But the site actually has an interesting history that extends much further, to the late 1930s.
At this point, the Ministry of Defence was ramping up its spending. It acquired the site that would later house the Studio Tour for use in aircraft production. Following the end of World War II, the site was bought by Rolls-Royce, and continued its life as a centre for aircraft manufacture.
Around the same time that JK Rowling was finishing up the manuscript for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the site was converted into a film studio for use in the filming of GoldenEye. The site was then rebranded as Leavesden Studios. Five years later, work began on the film version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The enormous space afforded by the aircraft hangar was a perfect location for one of the film’s most iconic sets: the Great Hall of Hogwarts.
Over the course of a decade, eight Harry Potter films were made, with the last of them, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, released in 2011.
