Going back to school, or starting for little ones, is always a stressful time. Not only do us parents need to make sure that our children have everything they need, and spares just in case, but children can be anxious about starting a new place or a new class.
I find it’s always great to keep everything positive. Children know when you’re feeling anxious and it will scare them, so make sure you keep all your language positive about how it’ll be and what they’ll do.
It’s a great idea to give your children some freedom as much as possible too. Maybe the independence to choose their own lunchboxes and backpacks, something to let your children know that, as they get older, they get more choices.
T and C both picked out their very own lunchboxes and bags from Lands End. I’d been looking around for good quality lunch boxes that have a drinks holder on the side and a Google search brought their website to my attention and I promptly let the boys pick out their favourites from the options. T chose Blue Galaxy and C opted for the Electric Blue Geo design.
J will only be in nursery and doing half day so doesn’t have a lunchbox. He does have his bag which I bought him last year from JoJo Maman Bébé though, which he does still love and it just has a spare set of clothes inside as he loves outdoor play.
I was lucky when it came to getting the boys backpacks though. I’d seen Lands End mention how they were doing an hourly giveaway and made sure to enter for the bags which were suitable for us… and won!
The Boys’ Print Classmate Medium Backpack is the perfect size to hold their p.e. kit and their homework. Straight away, C loved the Vibrant Sapphire Camo one and T the Bright Cardinal Geo (this one has the additional extra of having a foam padded laptop with Velcro closure).
After all the accessories are done, we started looking for footwear. It’s quite a hard choice to make when it comes to children’s shoes – whether to go for a formal shoe, or a smart looking trainer, or something in between.
The boys ended up going for a mix of all that was available at Get The Label. J really loved these super cute Kickers Moakie Reflex Leather Shoe (central in the photo) which are a gorgeous shoe design. C went for a little in between with the Sketchers Stepz Lo Trainers which have the comfort of trainers, but look so much like shoes. And lastly, T picked out some Adidas Originals EQT Support ADV Trainers which are the perfect trainer for school.
Now it’s only a week until they go back to school, we have everything prepared (unless you count coats which we haven’t even started looking for yet!). We just need to make sure that the boys are ready for the next step in their educational story…

They all look great, I bought trainers for my youngest, i think they will last longer, girls shoes are rubbish!
