What You Can Do With Shipton Mill Flour

A person sifting Shipton Mill flour through a metal sieve into a bowl, with flour dust floating in the air and sunlight streaming in from a nearby window—a perfect moment of baking, framed by patterned kitchen tiles and a measuring jug.

It doesn’t seem like long ago that all the flour shelves at the supermarket were empty. Still can’t believe that, and don’t get me started about the scarce of toilet paper… Anyway, during those strange flourless months when everyone had the baking bug (me included!), I found myself searching online for any flour I could find. It was then that I came across Shipton Mill flour at Springvale Foods.

Springvale Foods is a family-run fine food wholesaler, who are dedicated to sourcing artisan foods from national and international brands. As a wholesaler, Springvale Foods tend to sell most of their stock to independent food shops, garden centres, delicatessens – you name it. However, you can also stock up on all your favourites by bulk buying with them, which is something I’m particularly fond of doing.

Why Shipton Mill?

I think that it’s more important than ever to support local brands that are passionate about what they do and, of course, create a fantastic product. Shipton Mill makes a variety of organic speciality flours, using only the best ingredients. So, not only does the team at Shipton Mill create high-quality flours but also care about the environment.

What you can do with Shipton Mill flour?

Anything and everything – cakes, loaves, pastries… Their wide selection of organic flour will allow you to experiment and create wonderful savoury and sweet treats. Don’t just take my word for it! Lilla Flicka Bakery, a “floating” bakery, shared on a Guardian article how they use British Shipton Mill for their bread, which they sell outside their narrowboat, which is highly popular with their customers. DIY Daddy Blog also recommended Shipton Mill flour to make a “cracking loaf”, and I couldn’t agree more.
