Tips For Packing Hand Luggage For An Adult Only Holiday

With three children continually vying for my attention, the idea of getting away from it all and going on a adult only holiday is very appealing. The idea of packing for this though can be overwhelming. There’s a lot to consider, the weather, for starters. As a country can be so varying in weather, the weather may change during the trip, so you’ll need to take this into consideration.
Then there’s the adult only hotels dress code as some have more rules with it being for adults only. Will you need to dress casual, smart casual and formal? I mean, at this point I’m thinking of dumping the entire contents of my wardrobe into a suitcase. But with the prices of adding some hold luggage to your holiday, I try to stick to using hand luggage only, which means having to be savvy with the packing.

I’ve come up with a few ways to pack light, whilst having enough options for the holiday ahead.

A red suitcase with an extended handle and a black bag sit on empty chairs in an airport waiting area, sunlight streaming through large windows—perfect inspiration for packing hand luggage for your next adult only holiday.

Clothing
You can pack light, despite needing a variety of clothes for different occasions and activities. Go for options that will coordinate well with many options. Try and mix and match a few outfits if you can. For example, a black or white T-shirt or shirt will go with pretty much anything and can be worn a couple of times with different bottoms.
A good quality kaftan will give you that stylish edge, and is easy to throw on if you need to pop to the bar in between sunbathing, and they’re super light so are easy to carry in hand luggage. You can work your outfits around the weather you’ve got, and not worry about having to pack everything, for every eventuality. Just be sensible.
Swim and sportswear
Two swimsuits should suffice for hanging around the pool or enjoying a sauna or steam in the spa. I also find that packing 2 means that you can leave one to dry whilst using the other. Pop in a kaftan for when you need to cover up from the sun, as well as a pair of flip-flops. And if you’re planning on going for some walks whilst you’re away, packing some comfy sportswear is ideal as they have the best material for a workout, and walking in the sun can feel a bit like a workout sometimes.
Footwear
Don’t go crazy taking 12 pairs of shoes with you. A pair of flip-flops, heels and maybe some trainers if you’re planning on walking. The best wide fitting shoes will give you comfort and look great, and there are so many choices that it’s easy to find the perfect pair for your holiday.

My advice with shoes, is to wear the bulkiest on the flight. So usually trainers. These are comfortable to wear on a flight and you don’t have to worry about them taking up the space in your case then.

You also need to keep in mind what the dress code is in the country you’ll be visiting. Wearing a kaftan or shorts and a vest might be fine when you’re soaking up the sun in Spain, but you’ll need to wear more modest clothing if you’re travelling around more conservative countries.
