Should You Sign Your Child Up For Football Lessons

Football is a great sport for kids of all ages, boys and girls, and even toddlers can join in the fun once they master kicking a ball. From a kickabout at a local park to joining lessons with coaches, there are many levels children can play football at.

Football isn’t a sport reserved for kids showing special talents at an early age; it’s great if they do, but there is a whole range of benefits for children of all abilities to be found in football.

Reasons To Encourage Your Kids To Play Footy

The first reason to encourage children to play football or sports of any kind, for that matter, is the health benefits. Getting children interested in sports at an early age sets them up to develop a healthy attitude towards exercise and keeping fit. Football provides a great workout, and it’s fun too!

Around two years of age, a child will be able to start to develop enough coordination skills to kick a ball, so kids can start to play football at a surprisingly young age. Remember, though, that younger children may not understand the rules of a game of football, so the focus should instead be on skills, building their confidence, and having fun. If your child starts to show more interest in football, you could consider signing them up for football lessons for kids. Lessons make a great after-school or weekend activity, and with coaching academies such as Kixx, who run lessons right across the UK, children can take part from three years of age.

Academies and lessons are ideal for kids of all ages and can help them develop a wide range of skills and abilities. The focus at Kixx lessons is on having fun and making friends, but children taking part in weekly lessons will also learn a great deal about the sport of football and develop some crucial skills.

Learning to work as part of a team comes naturally with football, as does developing communication skills. For a team to be successful or an individual player to be successful, they need to learn to work with others, share, and communicate well with each other.

Football is also a great way to learn about resilience and good sportsmanship. Through football, children will come to understand that sometimes they don’t win, but that’s not a reason to give up or feel defeated. Winning and losing, the celebrations and commiserations with teammates all help kids develop emotionally and learn about the highs and lows of sports.

The focus is just on having a good time for most kids, though. Football lessons will help children meet new friends outside of their usual social circle and can be particularly helpful for children who are a little shy or lack confidence.

With football lessons, there are also opportunities for parents to get involved, either as coaches or supporting staff. If this is something you are interested in, football could be a great opportunity to spend quality time bonding with your child and taking part in a fun activity.

What do you think? Would you enrol your kids in football lessons? Or do you already have a football-mad kid?
