Mothers Day Gift Ideas on A Budget
Mother’s Day is just over 6 weeks away (it falls on 27th March this year in the UK) so if you’re trying to be prepared and buy your mum something thoughtful this year, here are a few suggestions for you. None of the following gift ideas are expensive and are suitable for all budgets after all it’s the thought that counts and not the money you’ve spent.
You could treat you mum to…
A bottle of her favourite drink
Why not treat your mum to a bottle of her favourite drink. It could be wine, prosecco, tequila, vodka, or something else. My mother-in-law loves gin and is always happy to receive a bottle whereas my mum doesn’t drink at all but would be happy with a new mug or a small tea or hot chocolate hamper.
A box of chocolates
You can’t go wrong with a buying your mum her favourite chocolates, can you? Whether it be white, milk or dark that she loves there’s always plenty of offers in the shops at this time of year, so you don’t need to spend a fortune.
A new book
My mum is a bookworm, she loves to read (as do I). Last year I gave her a Kindle when I upgraded my own device and she loves it, she does however love a physical book too, so I usually buy her a new release from one of her favourite authors.
Some new nightwear
My mum loves pyjamas and slippers and is always happy when she is bought these from any of us. In fact, I think women’s nightwear makes a lovely gift for any occasion. We usually buy her new slippers and / or pjs for Christmas but as I didn’t buy her any last year, this might be my go-to gift this Mother’s Day.
New Make Up

A bunch of flowers

If you’re unable to see your mum on Mother’s Day, using a flower delivery service is a great way to show her how much you care. Similarly, if you’re planning to visit your mum, why not take her a bunch of her favourite British flowers? If you’re not a fan of buying flowers, you could buy her a small potted plant or even a tree to plant in her garden if she has the room and is a keen gardener.
A day out
If the last couple of years have taught us anything it’s to not take anything or anyone for granted. After being in lockdowns / having restrictions in place it will be nice to have a little bit of normality back this year. Why not treat your mum to a day out or a meal at her favourite place to eat? It would be the perfect opportunity for the whole family to get together at once and have a nice catch up.
