If you have a garden that has an incredible view, chances are you already know how lucky you are. More than likely it was one of the things that was a deciding factor in you buying your home, and you probably paid a premium to be able to have it. It might be views of the countryside, overlooking a river, a stunning cityscape view from up high or anything at all. If you have this at home, you’ll of course want to be making the most of it as much as you can. Here are some things to consider if you’re about to start work on your garden or outside space.
Seating areas
If you’re overlooking beautiful scenery then having somewhere to sit and enjoy it is the first thing. You might want different types of seating depending on how you use your garden and how big it is, a table and chairs is a good place to start. That way you can host friends and family and the table means you all have somewhere to eat. If you don’t currently have a patio then getting one installed by a landscaping company would be a smart way to go to get the best of your outdoor space, or you could go with decking. Have a look at options like wps balustrades, lots of companies like this have glass options which give you the safety you need around raised areas but without blocking out any of the views. Glass is a good option for smaller spaces as well as it stops everything from feeling enclosed.
Cover
Having shade or rain cover is the next thing to consider, if you live in a part of the world that’s quite rainy then you wont want that to stop you from spending time outside. Something like a retractable rain cover, a large parasol or anything else that will keep the rain and heavy sun off you when the weather is at its extremes wont prevent you from getting out into the garden.
Planting
Having the right planting in a garden like this is always going to be important, as beautiful as big trees and shrubs and things can be you don’t want them blocking your view. If there’s anything that’s already there thats stopping you from being able to see out properly it can be worth contacting a tree surgeon- make sure there are no tree preservation orders or covenants that stop you from being able to remove it though. If you’re in the process of planting new things, think carefully about how they will look full grown, how tall they grow etc. That way you dont have to make drastic changes later on once everything is established.
Lighting
The right lighting can completely change the feel of your garden, especially if you want to enjoy the view in the evenings. Subtle and ambient options like solar powered path lights, LED uplighters under plants, or string fairy lights around seating areas can all create a nice warm and welcoming atmosphere without drawing attention away from the stunning view.
