Low Covid Risk Outdoor Activities

A lot of people seem to be wondering why they’re told to be outside whilst doing activities lately. When it comes to Covid-19, being outdoors is probably such an important way to make sure you minimise your risk of catching it. When you’re outside, fresh air is constantly moving, dispersing droplets, so you’re less likely to breathe in enough of the respiratory droplets containing the virus that causes Covid-19 to become infected.
Being outside offers other benefits, too. It offers an emotional boost and can help you feel less tense, stressed, angry or depressed, and sunlight can give your body vitamin D, too. Here are a few ways to get outdoors to do some low Covid-19 risk activities.
Walking
Getting outdoors is paramount to our mental health, and one of the easiest things to do whilst outdoors, is to go walking. This doesn’t need to be a long walk, a marathon, or in the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales. You can join in the doing the Daily Mile or just walk around your local area. Getting that extra bit of fresh air will not only give you so many benefits to your physical health, but also to your mental health too.

Hobbies
There are many outdoors hobbies that you can do in a Covid-Secure way, it’s just a case of working out what suits you best and whether they’re safe to be done. If you’re a lover of the sea, then surfing is a great way to get outdoors, keep fit, and at least you know no one will be near you. Horse riding is also a great way to get outdoors. If you have a love of horses, Vale stables can offer all the housing you might need for your horses. Plus, horse riding is great exercise, the perfect way to explore outdoors, and is such a great way to keep fit and healthy.
Picnics
Okay, might not be ideal in this current weather, but on a dry day, you can pack warmed through foods, hot chocolates in a flask, and enjoy being outdoors with the family. Pack food from home, and take it to enjoy at your favourite public park, or if you don’t want to venture out too far, eat out on your patio or in your garden. You don’t always have to go too far to be outdoors.
Camping
If you only have close contact with people you live with, camping is low risk. To get outdoors, you don’t even need to camp far away, you can do it in your garden if you want to. But if you do go further afield, remember to pack hand soap, hand sanitiser and supplies to clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces.
