Are you looking to update your child’s bedroom but not sure where to start? Keep reading on for some helpful tips.
It can be a difficult period for your child when they transition from a child to a teenager. It can cause many arguments between us, the parents, and them, as they think they know better than we do.
They are trying to find themselves and in doing so you may notice that they change the way they look, the friends they hang out with and the things that interest them. Their bedroom might still be childish in appearance, and they might want to change it. This can be a parent’s nightmare especially if money is tight. But it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money to update their room and there are many ways you can update their room to give it a makeover that they would love.
Ways to update a bedroom could include:
Decorating
A lick of paint gives any room a brand new feel. This can be an easy fix to updating a teenager’s room too. To give them a little independence you could let them choose their colours and get them to help you with the painting.
Add Wall Art
If you’ve already decorated (or it doesn’t need decorating) let your teenager choose some wall art for their room. There are some
fantastic wall stickers for them to choose from. Perhaps they’d like a poster featuring their favourite film, computer game or games console. They may even want a
personalised wall stickers to decorate a feature wall in their room.
Buy New Bedding
Another easy way to update your teen’s room is to let them choose some new bedding. A new duvet along with a new duvet cover of their choice would give their room a great little update. My boys love computer games and have asked for Minecraft and Mario themed bedding for their beds. Their older brothers are now “too cool” for bedding of this kind and have opted for plain coloured covers instead.
Buy New Furniture
If you have a little more room in your budget along with decorating, wall art and new bedding you might want to treat your teen to some new furniture. Perhaps they’ve asked for a cabin bed that is practical for
their school work or they want to change from a smaller bed to something a bit bigger or more extravagant, you might even look at
Stone TV Beds as the perfect upgrade and space saver in their room. As we have four children we have always had two sets of bunk beds but our eldest has asked that we exchange the set in his room for a double bed (he only shares his room when his brother comes to stay during the school holidays), at the minute this isn’t possible but it is certainly something we are going to
look into for him in the next year or so.
Add New Accessories
Adding new lamp shades, rugs and curtains will help change any room. LED fairy lighting is a popular choice for teenagers’ bedrooms at the minute. Many of my son’s friends have them running around the tops of their bedroom walls. We recently bought my son a giant Gummy Bear light and he thought it was great his brother has a lamp shaped like a football as he is a huge
football fan.
