Creating a Grey and White Modern Family Bathroom

A modern family bathroom featuring a sleek bath with a chrome tap, a metal caddy with bath essentials, and body wash on the rim—all set against a stylish grey and white tiled bathroom wall.

Grey bathrooms are having a renaissance right now – this delightful tone is the colour trend of the decade and can make a bathroom look super modern if used correctly. Using pale greys can look too cold and dark greys will appear too black, but getting the right colourway will give you a gorgeous room to relax in after a hard day.

What I personally love about grey, is that it can be combined with different colours to really make the room pop. If paired with the right hues it can really make a designer scheme, give a calming effect, and add extra punch to your design.

A clean, white family bathroom with a pedestal washbasin, mirror, toilet, small shelves holding toilet roll, bath with silver tap, and minimal decor on tiled walls and floor.

When we decided to renovate our bathroom, I knew what sort of design I wanted straight away – a bathroom with floor-to-ceiling tiles, and a grey flare to it. Floor-to-ceiling tiling can turn a functional bathroom space into something far more appealing, and such an easier space to clean too.
We actually started out by buying a bathroom suite first which we didn’t expect. This was only due to a local bathroom store having it on a deal that we couldn’t turn down. So that is my first tip – search everywhere before making your decision on what to buy. I find looking online the best way to get the best prices, but local stores will also have good deals too.

A glass shelf in a modern family bathroom under a mirror holds a grey container, white deodorant, a white soap bar, and a blue-and-orange razor against a white tiled wall.

To give the room a good base and start off our colour design, we went for plain white tiles, with just a border of Metro Grey ceramic tiles and then Wickes City Stone Ceramic Grey for the floor. This made the bathroom look huge once all in a showed how we could position the room to get the best use of the space for us. We haven’t decided if we want to have skirting boards in the bathroom yet though but I do I think they will give a better finish to the room so you can’t see the joint of the floor and wall tiles.
So, once the tiles and bathroom suite were in, it was a case of accessorising. With the grey theme being prominent in this part, it meant searching around for accessories that would work to bring the room together as a whole.

A modern white basin with a chrome tap, a grey soap dispenser on the left, and a matching grey toothbrush holder on the right, set against stylish white and grey tiled walls in this elegant Modern Family Bathroom.

The gorgeous Mode Hale greystone matt mirror stands pride of place above our sink is from Victoria Plum and is manufactured from water resistant engineered wood and comes in a gorgeous greystone matt finish which just oozes luxury and beauty.

Premium quality, this very large mirror brings all the light into the room and gives the feeling of more space as it bounces the light around and reflects so much of the room. We wanted a large mirror as I’m short and my husband is tall and I was getting sick of tip-toeing to look into the old one we had!

Since we decided on a mirror this time round instead of a cabinet, we knew we’d need some sort of shelf underneath to give some added storage and a place to put such things as my husbands razor, up and out of reach. The Ideal Standard Concept glass shelf fits perfectly in under the mirror and gives the area and extra dimension and shape. The fixtures and fittings are all concealed to bring a minimal design that is contemporary and would work well in any modern bathroom.

A clean Grey and White Bathroom featuring a white pedestal basin, open-lid toilet, toilet brush, waste bin, small mat, and soap bottle on a narrow shelf. Walls and floor are tiled in crisp white and grey for a modern family bathroom feel.

To compliment the room, the Orchard Mineral Grey accessories are dotted around to stand out and hold all our bathroom essentials. Made from durable polyresin the range includes a tumbler, soap dish, toothbrush holder and soap dispenser. This range is very modern but with simple vibes, without compromising on practicalities.
Then we wanted to keep with the white and grey theme by having a few whites items around too, so as to not make it too much grey. So we looked to Addis for our bathroom bin and toilet brush, opting for the Addis Diamond Collection. The 5L capacity bathroom bin has the gorgeous quilted diamond effect, featuring a swing lid opening for convenience and the matching toilet brush has the added extra that you can add detergent into the handle and when you want to clean with it, you simply press the top to allow the detergent to come out at the brush side and help removes any marks.

A grey and white bathroom shelf holds grey towels, toiletries, and woven storage baskets. Additional neatly folded towels are stacked on the floor beside the shelf, complementing the modern family bathroom design with white tiled walls and a light floor.

A bathroom is nothing without new towels though. I love big and fluffy towels that match my bathroom and so the Tielle Love Luxury Luxury Spa Charcoal Grey towels come in a Jumbo Bale which is the perfect size to be starting off a new collection.
These generously sized super-soft Turkish 100% cotton towels, which are specifically designed to be fluffy and quicker drying, are loved for their softness and absorbency, and are in this timelessly chic Charcoal Grey colourway. The Jumbo Towel bale includes two of each piece per set: Face cloth, Hand Towel, Bath Towel and Bath Sheet all 550gsm.

A grey bath mat with "hello lovely" in white script adds charm to this grey and white bathroom, lying on light-coloured tile in front of a bathtub with a grey towel draped over the side. Perfect for a modern family bathroom.

And I always love to add a little fun to my rooms so love this Hug Rug Hello Lovely bathroom mat which is beautifully soft and luxurious. With its non-slip rubber backing, it is perfect for the bathroom, it has anti-bacterial protection for up to 12 washes and absorbs up to 3.5x its weight in water whilst also drying 60% faster than a cotton mat.

Three white rectangular bottles labelled "BATHROOM TINCTURE," "DAILY FLOOR TINCTURE," and "GLASS AND MIRROR TINCTURE" stand on a white shelf in a stylish grey and white bathroom near the sink.

But when it comes to the bathroom, it isn’t just about the accessories, but keeping it all clean too. When we designed our new bathroom, I knew I wanted everything to match but then comes in the consumables that did not coordinate in the bathroom and I was not happy. Enter TINCTURE London who have the most Instagram-worthy bottles of cleaning solutions I’ve ever seen.

The TINCTURE Bathroom Set consists of Bathroom, Glass and Mirror, and Daily Floor sprays which are all natural, healthy cleaning and lifestyle products which are pure and safe for ourselves, and the planet – and they smell heavenly too!

A white bathroom shelf holds folded grey towels, a turquoise toiletry bag, and several white skincare products with floral designs. Perfect for a modern family bathroom, the shelf stands against a white tiled wall with grey accents.

My love for matching doesn’t just stop at cleaning products though, I have purposely picked out our hair and body products which match, to be placed out in the bathroom – the bright bottles can be hidden elsewhere. Green People are a brand I love for this as their understated design of bottles, with a floral tough, look perfect and hide the beautiful liquids that are held within. The Quinoa Hair & Body travel pack stands pride of place in my bathroom for me to use whenever I bathe in my new bath.

Wrapped into a stunning little pouch, there is Quinoa & Artichoke shampoo with shine-enhancing Quinoa protein and the conditioner to smooth the hair shaft and fight frizz. The Quinoa & Calendula shower gel is soothing and moisture-boosting ginger and Sweet orange aromas and the Quinoa & Prebiotics deodorant which is a natural deodorant with a powerful 3-way antibacterial action against odour.

Three bottles of Organic Children toiletries with cartoon fruit designs sit on a white basin beside a silver tap and white bath pouffe—perfect for adding fun to any modern family bathroom.

Even the boys can get in on the action with the Organic Children’s Berry Smoothie range. Packed full of natural goodness, with the plant proteins give the hair essential nutrients and leave hair super soft whilst also being super soft on their scalp. The conditioner being ‘no tangle’ to make brushing those precious locks super easy afterwards and the sumptuous foaming bubble bath which is kind to skin, made from coconut and corn, it is scented with Raspberry, Apple and Vanilla.

When it comes to finally jumping into my new bath, I just have to chuck in one of my Heart Bath Fizzers for a luxurious escape from the busy day. The fizzers are gentle, and after a sumptuous soak, your skin will feel silky, smooth, and healthy. The subtle sweet scent is a genuinely indulgent treat for the senses.

And a bit of fun to end with the Poo-Pourri Deja Poo Spray which is a must when you live in a household with 4 males. When sprayed directly on to the water surface in any loo, the Deja Poo Toilet Spray will create an invisible protective blockade against any potential unwanted smells. I mean, I’ve finally got this gorgeous bathroom, I don’t want to ruin it with pongs.
