I remember when I was younger, the thought of going into a soaking wet, and muddy field (cos’ it’s always raining in here Blighty!) filled me with dread and I always said that it would be something that I’d never do.
Who would want to spend all that time scraping down mud laden clothing afterwards and rinsing out wellies. I mean, I don’t even look good in wellies – they’re just not my thing.
But nowadays, camping isn’t all about the mud. Halfords have put together their camping guide which shows all of the options you have whilst camping, and a bit of everything in between. A full guide showing places, and things to do, based on your own interests and get you camping trip off on the right foot.
For me, I would be a beachgoer and maybe even a caravaner, even better if the caravan is by the beach. And then I don’t even need to share any tents with any and every creature that’s no doubt lurking out there waiting to pounce on me.
I think the best bit of camping is that you can just uproot and go wherever you want. At the beach, in the countryside, maybe you fancy a cycling trip, or the total opposite and having a nice relaxing break. With camping, you can make it as adventurous as you like.
And with us now having glamping and being able to camp in tepees and huts, it’s no longer having that struggle of having the wade through a field in the middle of the night to go for a pee.
There is so much to do and see in the UK that camping can mean getting through so much more than if you just booked a holiday somewhere as you can move yourselves around and be at one with nature. Not me though. I’ll be at one with nature hiding in a caravan somewhere, away from the bugs!
Personally for me though, it would be just a nice way to have a break from the hustle and bustle of every day life. No phones, no tv, no games consoles. Just the kids and I, spending time together.
