When you think of Benidorm you may picture fish and chip shops, noisy crowds and drunken Brits but the reality of this place really couldn’t be more different. I should know too as we’ve been going there the past few years, with our kids in tow. Benidorm has had some lousy press over the years but I think people are now starting to realise just how impressive this town actually is.
Benidorm boasts hundreds of skyscrapers, luxury hotels, entertaining festivals and gorgeous golden beaches making it perfect for luxury holidays in the sun, but it also the ideal place to go if you’re travelling abroad for the first time and don’t quite have the budget to spend at other places.
The good temperatures, beautiful beaches, and fun can be found in every corner, and that’s what has made Benidorm a great tourist attraction for families. The wide range of plans and activities available for families has meant that more and more families choose holiday apartments in Benidorm to enjoy a family holiday there.
The Spanish Weather
The Spanish sun is perhaps one of the biggest pulls when it comes to booking a holiday abroad. It’s especially and essential for us Brit’s who obsess over getting those rays. And even better, Benidorm has its very own micro climate with average highs being around 28˚C throughout the summer months. In fact, we’ve been there in April, May and August, and have had some of the most amazing weather.
Benidorm Beaches
Now you haven’t been to Benidorm if you haven’t walked along their huge stretches of beach. And you won’t be short of space when it comes to sunbathing, or building sandcastles on the beach, as the coastline stretches for around 6km, Levante being busiest out of the two with over 2 kilometres of sand, while Poniente is less crowded and offers a much more relaxing sunbathing experience. What’s more swings and slides, climbing frames, goal posts and Volleyball nets have all been installed to guarantee hours of fun for children and adults alike.
Outstanding Accommodation
I’ve written before about how going abroad doesn’t have to be expensive and that is so true when it comes to holidaying in Benidorm. This Spanish resort is home to some stunning self-catering holiday properties so you can soak up the sun in a range of places. If you’re travelling with younger ones you may want to consider a villa which caters to families as you get private space and usually your own pool. Theme Parks In Benidorm
Benidorm has a whole host of theme parks, from Terra Mítica which is ideal if you’re a thrill seeker as it has some of the best rides in Europe, but if white-knuckle rides and adrenaline rushes aren’t your thing, there are more gentle rides too. There is also Aqualandia if you prefer to cool down. We have also visited Aqua Natura which is smaller than the others but this makes it better for us with little kids as it means less waiting times for the slides. This water park is part of Terra Natura which is an animal park so you could opt to buy tickets for both places.
And if you don’t want to leave the beach, then you could even try the Cable-Ski where you can try water-skiing, wakeboarding and other water sports, 100 metres off Levante beach, from April to October, and your family can view your performance right from the shoreline.
A Diverse Range Of Food
You won’t be able to resist trying some of the freshly cooked traditional Spanish dishes such as paella and fresh seafood. But if that’s not your thing, there’s plenty of international cuisine to enjoy too, so you will never be short of choice. We’ve visited Chinese, Indian and Italian restaurants whilst out there, and there is also an amazing steak restaurant too. And when it comes to feeding children, there’s even more choice if you have fussy ones. From British eateries which cater for our food loves, but also to fast food places such as Burger King and KFC if you want something quick before you go out for the day.
So, if you’re thinking of booking a holiday to Spain for you and your family, give Benidorm a go and you might never want to book anywhere else again.

Cant beat Benidorm for family fun
I have never been to Benidorm, we were due to visit Torremolinos this year but obviously it was cancelled due to the virus. Hope to visit Spain soon.
