Comfy, Casual And Stylish Looks As We Emerge Out Of Lockdown

We are living through a period of time that is unlike any other. The global Covid-19 pandemic has dramatically shifted the way in which we go about our day-to-day lives, and there is little doubt that, going forward, at least parts of our existence are going to change for ever. There will never be a chance to go back to our old normal lives, and forever more, we'll have a 'new normal' that we'll all just get used to over time.

When it comes to the fashion industry and, more specifically, the way we, as consumers, shop and choose what we pull out of our wardrobes each morning, the experience of living through a government-imposed lockdown could very well alter our perspective on dressing for the foreseeable future.

After a whole year of being stuck home and finding comfort in loungewear at home, could it be a case of us pivoting towards it in the long term? Or do you think will we go to the other extreme and dress up more than we ever have before? I mean, after the Spanish Flu pandemic ended in 2020, the whole of the decade was spent dressed to the nines, with adults enjoying every available moment.

But back to this year, it's perhaps completely unsurprising that consumers are investing in casual clothing and activewear during this period. Not only are we housebound and embracing this time to be comfortable, but many of us also have a new perspective, more time to spare and a greater focus on our health.

And, it's not just versatility for the current climate, but versatility for the future that shoppers are investing in, with many of the retailers finding that the lockdown has led to an increase in consumers choosing forever pieces. From jackets that can suit many outfits, right through to party wear, ready for when the lockdown lifts.

And as we've seen the roadmap for what is upcoming to bring us out of lockdown, and as the world finally starts reopens, we need to start shedding our well-worn sweatpants, donning a face mask and emerging from the isolation cocoons to tackle the second, and hopefully easier, part of 2021.

Now is the time to look to the future, work out what you want from life, and enjoy what is to come because we're the lucky ones. To come through Covid healthy and happy. Ready to live our lives. So don your, always in fashion, denim jacket, get in with the current style with leather look leggings, and get out there, ready to enjoy the rest of 2021.

  1. I have definitely got used to comfort dressing.

  2. I love comfy clothes, im not looking forward to having to wear normal clothes again

  3. I went to my mother's funeral (died from cancer) at the end of last year and it did feel really strange wearing a shirt & suit, and especially proper shoes as opposed to trainers....

  4. The sweatpants are most definitely well worn!
