It's been a tremendously challenging time at the moment  as people struggle with the realities and fears of the COVID-19 pandemic. People are not just struggling to stay safe, it;s also been a struggle to stay sane whilst stuck at home in lockdown for the next however long. 

Thousands took to social media on chat about the ways they are staying sane during this pandemic and that does seem like a good way to get some ideas about what you can do to keep yourself busy during this time. 

Music, journaling, and spending time with your pets are all science-backed ways to boost mental health during stressful times. Expressing your artistic self has profound positive impacts on your mental health too, so it's always good to try and give yourself a varied amount of stuff to do.

Journaling or Blogging
Writing about your personal experiences can help improve your mood, boost happiness, and help you find catharsis during a time of trouble or stress. I know quite a lot about this as I started my blog, 8 years ago, for that exact reason. 

During the stressful COVID-19 pandemic, stress and panic seem to be spreading just as quickly as the virus. Writing about your lock-down experience during this time can help decrease your anxiety and increase your mental well-being. And so, by writing, editing your own version of events, you can achieve a cathartic experience and see the situation more clearly. 

What's more, this could then become a part of your daily life, like it did for me. After a few month of writing about my life, and my daily experiences, I started working on collaborations, and ended up taking this up as my job. Even now, during lockdown, I find myself still available for work, which has also helped my mental wellbeing, and my collaboration with Femme Luxe gave me the gorgeous slogan tops in these photos.

Organise Your Wardrobe
Most of us have at least one dress that we know we'll never wear again or a pair of jeans that just don't fit the way they used to but just don't want to get rid of. But now is the time to declutter your wardrobe and get rid of those sad pieces that no longer see the light of day. Either pass them onto friends and family (from a safe distance), donate them to charity or at the very least, find your nearest clothing bank and recycle.

Start a Home Gym
Missing the gym? Working out at home can be just as beneficial for your body and is so good for mental wellbeing too. Why not try out different types of workouts over the course of the next few weeks and find that workout that really works for you. You can join in with Joe Wicks, Tyson Fury, or research one you like on YouTube, so you can keep fit whilst in your own home. 

Take Up Colouring
When you think of colouring, it's usually kids with crayons, but there are so many adult colouring books, and speciality colours, out there, that you can do some colouring on your own. You can even print some off Google if you find that easier. Ones with harder patterns, more to do, and to keep your brain busy. Colouring is a really good mood booster, as it takes your mind off the real world, and give you something to complete. This could also work with such as knitting or cross-stitch, although you would need to buy the items to do these. However, you can get free cross stitch patterns by subscribing to Yarnie's needle craft newsletter.     1. Thank you so much. I found the colours in my storage yesterday (there's a mix of bright pink, light pink and silver on my hair) so thought I'd give it a try since I can't go anywhere.

  2. My wife has the material and patterns etc to make a dress, skirt and blouse. I bought a guitar for the first time a few months ago. Both relaxing but useful hobbies!
    This would also be a good time to sort out all the junk in the loft!

  3. I'm spending a lot of time rummaging around in my ancestors lives - I started doing my family tree on Ancestry after my mum died and quickly got addicted. (Love that pink shade! - I have some metallic silver I never dared try - maybe now's the time!)

    1. Oh great idea to look into the family tree. And thank you. Its a mix of pink and silver in my hair, I then mixed both colours together for a lighter pink on bits too.
