How To Make The Perfect Dippy Eggs

Gifted

You can’t get much better than a well boiled egg accompanied by buttery soldiers for breakfast, or lunch. And they aren't just for kids either. Eggs are a good source of inexpensive, high quality protein and are rich sources of selenium, vitamin D, B6, B12 and minerals such as zinc, iron and copper.

Whether you like them soft or hard boiled, I can understand how frustrating it can be to get them right every time. Leaving them for even a few seconds too long and they'll be hard instead of runny. But don't fret. It's easy to get them spot on with my handy guide on how to boil eggs.

The most important thing. Be sure to use the best quality eggs you can find. Free-range is my go to egg, and go for large ones to match up with my timings below. If you have medium eggs then adjust the timings slightly lower to compensate for this.

How To Make The Perfect Dippy Eggs
  • Fill a small saucepan around three quarters of the way up with water, and bring it to the boil
  • Add pinch of salt to help stop them cracking, then using a slotted spoon lower the eggs into the water
  • Cook for the following times, depending on how you like your eggs: 5 minutes for runny, 7.5 minutes for firm or 10 minutes for hard boiled
  • Remove the eggs with the spoon and serve with hot, buttered toast immediately

And if you want some way to serve your eggs that isn't just the boring old eggcup, then a Urban Fox personalised egg board will not only make mealtime that little bit easier with a lot less mess, but they can be personalised so you'll never get arguments over which is which.

This is the You're Eggcellent Personalised Breakfast Egg Board and I personalised it with my nickname as I eat a lot of eggs so it's ideal to have my own serving plate. These wooden egg boards are shaped like a slice of toast featuring grooves to hold two boiled eggs perfectly in place with space to hold toast too.

If you're looking for a quirky gift this Christmas, then the best way to let an egg lover know that they're eggcellent is with one of these cute boards. No mess, no fuss, just one board to wash up after eating, and the added extra of having your own personalised name. Or if you're creative, you can even send over your very own design to be put onto it.

So there you go – super simple steps to getting perfectly boiled eggs just the way you like them. Follow this approach every time and you won’t go wrong.
