My Tips For Online Dating

The world of online dating can be tricky at the best of times, and even harder for beginners. But if you've decided to venture into the online dating world, then you've already made the right choice. I mean, did you know that one-third of marriages now start online and every age demographic using online dating has increased in the past few years, so it's not just the young ones doing it.

Online dating is huge, there is no denying it, so if you’re looking for the best online dating tips to make sure that your dating journey is a successful one, then look no further as here are my tips for dating online, the best dating advice for novices looking to find their special someone.

Stay Safe Online
Every now and then, a horror story emerges about online dating and how it went wrong. But remember, those few wrongs, don't add up to the amount of positives that come out of online dating. It's important you choose somewhere public for your first date, just so you know you'll be safe, if the worst does happen. You could also let a friend or family member know you're going on the date, and that you'll contact them if all is going well. As a general rule of thumb, just plain avoid those who instantly ask you come over to their place, or are overly pushy.

Does Your Bio Do You Justice?
Analysing yourself can feel unnatural, and cutting your personality into just a few bullet points for your online dating profile can be hard work. I mean, who really knows how to fully appraise themselves to look good. I'm sure it's not just me that cringes at the thought of having to point out likes, dislikes and hobbies on paper, but the more information you give about yourself from the start, the clearer a picture you paint for a potential match.

Does You Profile Photo Stand Out?
It might sound obvious, but try to pick photos that are clear, honest and up to date, and show you in your best light. Sunglasses, group photos, and that all-time favourite photo that was taken a good 10 years ago, are a big no no when it comes to the important photo profile.

Decide What You Want
Do you want, a male, female, someone older or younger? There are many way of finding cougars dating online, or toyboys, if that's your thing. And for both love or companionship. Make sure to state what you want up front, so everyone knows where they stand from the outset and don't feel messed around down the line.

You could also go onto specialised sites that suit your needs. My Cougar Dates, for instance, is perfect if you're a woman wanting a younger man, or a man wanting an older woman with experience. It's all down to preference really.

Remember, It's Your Choice
Don't think you have to go on a date with the first person who asks you out, out of courtesy, or just because you've been single for a while. Be selective, there really is no need to settle for the first offer. There are millions of people using dating sites, so it's not a shock if you find a few people you could pair with, and want to go on various dates.

  2. I used to do dating sites about ten years ago, but it seemed that, for me, it didn't work, though I know people who've tried it and met someone so it's a game of luck x
