5 Brilliant Boys Bedroom Design Ideas

Who says boys’ bedrooms can’t be stylish yet practical? Having 3 sons, I've had to go through a lot of designs over the years,to work out what is best for them. I've selected a few of my favourite ideas, schemes and tips for boys’ bedrooms that look great while remaining practical.

Bunk up the colours
Traditional colour palettes such as blues and reds are the classic option when it comes to decorating a boy bedroom. But zingy yellows can look a little different if you're daring to be bold. Change up the normal by painting bunk beds in a standout colour to make them a cheery focal point. Or go for a low key background colour on the walls so that bright furniture and accessories can take centre stage.

Monochrome love
Kids bedrooms don't always need to be pale, colourful and pretty. An embrace of dark and moody hues for a dramatic look that will add depth and works wonderfully, especially for older children. You can still add plenty of pattern to the room, but in a monochrome style and in quirky art to add character and personality.

Think of a theme
If you have a young child, it’s likely that you’ll want to opt for bright colours. Feature walls with a fun and funky print or wall stickers are a great way to liven up a scheme. It's great to take a theme and run with it in a child's bedroom. If your child is car mad, then go all out by looking for a bed shaped like a car from Car Bed Shop. Maybe keep the colour scheme and walls plain and light, whilst going all out with a racing car bed and accessories in the room.

Create a space for study
Being creative with the bedroom is a great way to add more space when you don't have it. Shelves on the walls and a set of drawers that doubles up as a space for study (or being creative with a pack of crayons) is a great way to pack out the bedroom for everything a children will need. Finish it off with some retro stationery, you can even match them to the room design, and it'll fit right in with the bedroom.

Make a small space bright
Keep the look light and airy in bedrooms by painting walls white to compensate for the lack of natural light. Go for cheery bed linen and accessories to keep the look bright, with maybe some colourful artwork or stickers on the walls for decoration and to bring the room together. Keeping in mind some tactical storage to give the space room to store everything without giving up too much floor space.
