4 Romantic Wedding Anniversary Ideas For Couples

As they say 'time flies when you're having fun', and that also comes in to play when you are with the one you love. As the years go by, it gets to the stage whereby you might forget about that special yearly day though, as your anniversaries begin to sneak up on you. Always ending up going out to dinner again, rather than spending your time, and money, and something more worthwhile.

Or perhaps that big day comes, and you don't end up doing anything at all because you are on a tight budget and can't think of something to do that is a celebration and memorable, but won't cost a fortune. Luckily, you can be both romantic and financially smart. Here are 5 inexpensive and exciting new ways to celebrate your anniversary.

Give Thoughtful Gifts
Instead of going for the habitual gifts, think of what your partner would actually like. It doesn't necessarily be something that you both can do together, but something that he, or she, will love. And it doesn’t have to be expensive, just thoughtful. One option would be a lovely piece of wedding anniversary jewellery such as an anniversary bracelet that you can personalise and add to each passing year. One that can be personal to the recipient, to their loves, their memories, and one that can be held dear, to remember those precious moments.

Match Your Gift with Your Anniversary Year
For each anniversary year, there are traditional gifts that you can give. The gift for the first year is traditionally paper, so you could go for some stationery you have customised just for them. A book you know that they will love, or even a love letter. Be thoughtful and fun, and see who can come up with the most creative themed gift.

Recreate Your Wedding Night Menu
Try to recreate your first married meal with your husband, or wife. Do you remember that meal you had at your wedding? Well get to work choosing the recipe that's fits most, go shopping for the ingredients, and cook as a team, for a romantic meal that wont cost a fortune. Our wedding dinner included an elegant chicken medley with sautéed potatoes and a white wine sauce, or a steak paired with tagliatelle in a red wine sauce - not something I would normally take the time to make at home!

Cooking, in general, is extremely fun and a cheap idea for that special date with a difference and means you don't even have to leave the house. You could end the evening snuggling on the couch, watching the first movie you saw together

Do Something New
My husband and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary last year and yet again, we went out to a restaurant, which was great, but dining out is nothing new or particularly exciting. So we have decided that from now on, we are going to do something different. Something unexpected, that we wouldn't usually do. A spa day spending it just us 2 for the full day, a romantic, cheap hotel package, or something more extreme - think of something you and your spouse have always wanted to explore but have never got round to doing.
