How Your Nightly Rituals Can Help You De-Stress


By now, most people understand the importance of a morning ritual to get your day on track, but most people don't realise that your day can start a whole lot better, it you end the day before stress free. There are many things in life that cause stress - work, kids, life in general, but it's important to end each day calm so that you can wake the following day with no worries to contend with and enough sleep to be getting on with the day. 

The bathroom seems to be the one place in the house where we can enjoy that little bit of time to ourselves in the bath (if I lock the door to stop the kids from gatecrashing), and so the guys over at Sanctuary Bathrooms sent me a special box of treats to make sure I could enjoy some 'me time', away from the world.

The best way to relax as a parent is to have a nice relaxing bath whilst the kids are in bed. Soaking in a warm tub is a soothing way to end the day and you can add in a few extras to really make it special. 


A bath bomb, such a the Lush Golden Slumbers, is like a sleeping potion in your bath. The calming lavender oil, lavender absolute, chamomile oil and neroli help to calm restless minds and gently lift your mood. You could even light a beautifully scented candle, like a Yankee Candle Egyptian Musk, with captivating musk with hints of vanilla bean and cedarwood.

A body scrub, such as the Lavera Smoothing Body Scrub incorporates green coffee bean & green tea to help boost blood circulation in the skin when used in connection with an exfoliating massage.


I use the Burlington Brass Extendable Bath Rack to give me some much needed over-bath storage for I'm bathing. It gives me room to store all of my lotions and potions and keep my glass of Prosecco and chocolate right at arms length.

And then when you're all done, it's time to get bendy. Exercise can help you sleep, and so doing a little yoga and stretching your body out with relaxing poses can help you prepare for sleep, giving you a relaxing nights sleep and preparing you for the following day...
