Creating a Snug in Your Home

We all need somewhere we can go to get away from everything and really relax. It is a good idea for each member of the family to have a spot where they can curl up and read, watch a movie or play a game. Fortunately, as you will see, it does not take as much effort as you may think and you do not necessarily need a lot of space to do it.

Turn a corner into a snug
Perhaps the easiest and most practical approach is to turn a corner of a room into a cosy spot. You do not necessarily have to divide the space you need for your snug off from the rest of the room. It can be as easy as ordering a couple of collage prints from www.hellocanvas.co.uk and hanging those in the corner you have chosen to use. This helps to define the space and create a slightly different feel for that small area of the room.

Now all you need to do is to provide somewhere comfortable for the person to sit and maybe some storage. If it is just a spot for reading, surfing the web, or playing games on a handheld console, a beanbag would be sufficient. On the other hand, if you want to do a bit of crafting you may want to add a narrow set of drawers and a small table. If you can, include some decent lighting in your design. Dimmable lighting is ideal because it enables you to create the ambience you really want.

Create a snug under your stairs
You can create a really good snug for yourself under the stairs. The advantage of this space is that you can close the doors and hide everything away. So, it is actually a good place for a hobby based snug. Potentially, you can cover most of the wall space with narrow shelves, so everything you need is visible and close at hand.

Create a snug in your bedroom
Perhaps the ideal place to create a snug is your bedroom. It is already a private space. It is somewhere that you can safely fully express your personality because very few people are going to see it. So, if you want to go bonkers and create a faux fur-laden snug there is no reason why you should n´t. Your bedroom snug can be as simple or elaborate as you want. In many cases, simply installing a comfy chair and footrest with a floor lamp behind it and maybe a tiny table is all you will need to do. It is really great to be able to go up to bed early, curl up with a book and crawl into bed when you feel your eyes drooping.

For a kid´s room, there are loads of ways to do it. I won´t go into them all here. Instead, I recommend that you take a quick look at this article, which gives you 7 great ideas.

Creating a cosy spa style snug in your bathroom
Some people even manage to set up a chair based snug up in their bathroom. They like to get out of the bath, wrap themselves in a thick robe, do their nails and treat themselves to a few other beauty treatments while sitting in comfort.
