The Benefits Of Office Yoga

Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India. It has become popular as a system of physical exercise, however in Indians traditions, it is more than physical exercise; it has a meditative and spiritual core.

Yoga focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing, and the main components of yoga are postures (a series of movements designed to increase strength and flexibility) and breathing. I personally think it' just a great way of giving yourself a bit of space, clearing your head and giving a gentle exercise to the body.

For me, I usually practice Yoga either in the gym, or in the front room once the kids are in bed. Although I should really get the boys into it more as it's great for kids to learn too. More recently though, I did a bit of practice on the beach. Now, I'm no expert and only do the odd position, but I do find it calming.

Recently though, more and more has Yoga become common practice for a lot of people and some people have been talking about the benefits of doing Yoga whilst sitting at our office desks uk. I personally think this is a great idea as there are many smaller poses that you can do whilst working.

The Chair Cat Cow Pose would be an ideal way to get the Yoga vibes going in an office as it strengthens and stretches the spine and neck, reducing lower back pain that we can all feel whilst sitting at a desk all day. It's also a great exercise to help improve posture and balance.

The Chair Spinal Twist is probably the one I do most of all without even thinking about Yoga - every time one of my children wants me for something and I have to turn around to help them! Thinking about Yoga as you're working and moving can help with so much. I mean, just by doing this pose properly, it can reduce stiffness and loosens the hip joints.

Okay, it might not change the world, and you'll probably get some funny looks if you don't work from home like I do, but I think office Yoga could really be a thing. Freeing up your mind for just 5 minutes could also be a help with your work too, giving you new perspective and ideas!
