Why Your Interior Design Trends Can Never Go Wrong with Glass Furniture

Glass furniture is seen as a bold choice by many people - especially those who have children! If you’re trying to decide whether it’s the right choice for you, then we have all the reasons why it just works in any setting. Glass was first blown by the Egyptians and Romans some 2000-4000 years ago and quickly evolved from sparkly jewellery to drinking vessels and now in the 21st century we have many items of furniture made from this smooth and translucent material- sure to add style to any modern home.

If you are investing in glass balustrades, make sure you have high-quality fixings such as glass balustrade fixings for durability and security.

Is glass furniture the right choice for you?
Glass furniture undoubtedly adds an element of elegance and style to any home decor. This is debatable, but it is generally viewed as a material that works better in homes that have a more modern or contemporary design.

If you’re looking to create a feeling of more space in a smaller room, glass furniture is definitely the right choice. As it is see-through, it creates the illusion of space and helps to make a room look brighter and airier than it is. Heavier, darker, or wooden furniture can often create a more oppressive feeling in a small room.

Some people may feel hesitant when it comes to choosing glass furniture for their own home. This is because although it looks great, they naturally worry about potential damage, cleaning, and any accidents that could happen. This is especially true if there are kids or pets around the house!

However there are other advantages to glass furniture besides the style element and aesthetic that it provides. Glass furniture can actually be easier to maintain than wooden furniture, as there is no risk of termites. It is also simple to polish with any cleaning fluid, and you can clearly see any marks that need to be wiped away.

The durability of glass furniture is also an attractive factor. It doesn’t fade with time as wooden furniture does, and it doesn’t rust like metal or steel items. So it is actually a lot more manageable than people think!

Which type of glass furniture should you invest in?
Just remember, you can find different types of glass material used in pieces of glass furniture. If you’re looking for something high-quality and more durable, we’d recommend you invest in tempered glass furniture, This is known to be more durable and less prone to damage than regular or annealed glass.

The piece that you decide to invest in doesn’t need to be piece made only of glass. Glass also looks beautiful when combined with other materials such as wood to create stylish and statement furniture pieces. As a material, it just adds class to any piece of furniture that it is used effectively in.

Which room does glass furniture look best in?
We think that there are certain rooms which are more suitable for glass furniture. Bedrooms and kitchens may not be the best place for it. In your bedroom you want to create a more cosy atmosphere Glass furniture doesn’t really contribute to a cosy vibe. Your kitchen may also not be the best places for full glass pieces. You may find that any glass furniture placed there needs to be cleaned constantly as it is a material that tends to become dirty quite quickly.

We would recommend incorporating glass pieces into the common areas of your house such as the dining room, living room, or hall areas. A chic glass coffee table or an elegant glass dining table just can’t be beaten when it comes to adding style to a room. In the hallway, you could consider adding in glass balustrades around your staircase to create a contemporary and stylish look.

Many offices now commonly incorporate glass furniture into their decor to result in a sophisticated look which looks airy and spacious.

Wherever you choose to use glass, make sure that it has been toughened so that if it ever does break accidentally it’s not going to shatter into millions of sharp shards. It can come in all sorts of colours and works well in just about every room of the house- classic and stylish.

  1. I absolutely love the coffee table pictured but as you say with children I'm dubious, Mollie is nearly 7 months so will be learning to walk soon, I would consider rounded glass like the table above but we were offered a glass dining table but turned it down as the corners looked very sharp if our daughters aged 5 and 7 months were to fall into it they would really hurt themselves xXx

  2. I am one of those people who's always wary, but if it's made properly it's usually exceptionally resistant to damage, so it can be a great option. Great article, thank you!
