My Top 10 Parenting Observations

I love tongue in cheek parenting quotes and always find it amusing how serious people take parenting. Raising children is an amazing experience and a life long lesson, but there are also parts that you don't expect, parts that make you think, wtf! I didn't sign up for that.

This quote sums parenting up for me...

"You can learn many things from children.
How much patience you have, for instance"
- Franklin P. Adams

And so today, I thought I would bring you 10 parenting observations from myself after raising 3 children, and how I feel about certain things. Please remember, this is all just a bit of fun, a different look on parenting to keep us all smiling.

My Love Of Colour In The Home

When it comes to decorating our house, I do love a bit of everything, modern and traditional. You could say that even though I do like to mix things up, I am a hard person to work with when it comes to my house as I am not only so picky with what I do like but I am so changeable also. One day I could want modern, and then next, traditional. I find it hard to stick with one certain look for too long and am already looking at new styles for our livingroom, even though it was only redone last year.

So I've been looking around for inspiration of how to next design our front room and came across a post on Home and Horizon about interior design trends for 2016 which is talking about the new trends for this year and what will be big on the design front.

New trends come and go all the time, from colour choices, to style, furniture and lighting. Of course, traditional styles will always work throughout the home and have longevity because they embrace the basic form and function needed in a home, whereas modern styles come and go as they only reflect the current mood in society itself.

The Perfect Gifts For Mother's Day

I find this post a little weird to write. I mean, I'm a mum myself, I shouldn't be writing about what us mums would like. Instead, I should be receiving these from my husband and our sons and then writing about it a few days after, gushing about what they gifted me for Mother's Day.

To be honest though, my husband is useless. He regularly checks out my blog to see what I have been writing about and lusting after, just so he knows what to get me. So here is my post full of my Mother's Day must have gifts.

5 Of The Best Family Friendly Days Out in Yorkshire

This is a guest post by Jo Addison. Jo is a Mum of 2 little boys, Yorkshire born and bred, occasional marathon runner, dreamer and once RTW traveller. She blogs about holidays and days out for babies and toddlers at Kiddieholidays

I love getting out and about in Yorkshire with my 2 boys aged 5 and 2. There is so much to do and see - from world class museums, like the National Railway Museum in York, to the wild Yorkshire coastline at the East. I've lived in Yorkshire for most of my life, and these are some of my favourite places to visit for family days out.

Things I Wish I Had Been Told When I Was Pregnant

This is a guest post by Jenni who is a first time mummy to Lucas, born in February 2015. She lives with her partner in Lancashire and enjoys writing about their time together over at Chilling with Lucas.

1) Strangers touch your bump, some before asking. After this, they go to stroke your baby's head like they are a pet or doll.

2) Make the most of sleep before you get to six months pregnant because after that the sleepless nights begin. Between being uncomfortable, Lucas moving about and pregnancy insomnia, I think I slept less in the last trimester than when Lucas was a new born.

3 Family Friendly Walks In Yorkshire‏

This is a guest post by Erin who is an American now living in Yorkshire with her husband and two Yorkshire Tots aged 4 and 3. She runs Yorkshire Tots, an events and activities website for busy Yorkshire families.

One of the things I love about living in West Yorkshire is the fact that there is so much to do here. We have cities, countryside and more than our fair share of great events. One of our favourite things to do in West Yorkshire as a family is to take a walk. We stared when the kids were in front packs and backpacks but now they're scampering along beside us.

The Questions…When Does It Stop?

This is a guest post by Laura who is mummy to two girls, Alice and Holly and writes about their adventures and the ups and down of motherhood over at dearbearandbeany.

It started on our wedding day…a few throwaway comments, a funny joke…are you going to come back from your honeymoon pregnant? will there be a babymoon? I didn't mind and it was all very harmless.

But, the questions didn't stop, throughout our first year of marriage they continued, then I fell pregnant with Alice…phew a nine month break!!

7 Idiot Proof Breakfast Ideas Which Will Save Your Life

This is a guest post by Talya who is a freelance writer & blogger at Motherhood: The Real Deal.

I hate breakfast. Although it is the most important meal of the day, it is the cruelest. You are half asleep, totally uninspired, and are supposed to come up with the goods without totally messing them up, in a hurry, usually with a fussy eater in the mix. I have had more breakfast disasters than I care to remember (I blame Pinterest for that) BUT there are things I now know I can make to put a nutritious, passable breakfast without having to resort to cereal or boring toast.

Motorola MBP853 Connect Baby Monitor

When it comes to babies, us parents are such worriers. Not even able to let our little bundles be away from us for 2 minutes without having to check on them. I remember when I first had Thomas, I hated going to sleep and would constantly wake up to check that he was breathing!

So that's where having a monitor comes in. Monitors are great as it means that you can hear if your baby wakes whilst you are away from them, downstairs and enjoying the moments of peace. The Motorola MBP853 Connect Baby Monitor goes many steps further than being just a baby monitor though and is quite an amazing piece of kit.

The Next Hurdle | Buying For Your One Year Old

I see a lot of posts talking about what parents will need when babies are born and the 'must haves' and essentials for those newborns, but this never seems to happen for when your baby gets older.

Yes, you do need a lot when your baby is born, but you also need to get some more kit when they get near the one year old mark, the extras that they need when growing up.

So today, I thought I'd write about the things that I love and would recommend that you have for your one year old child...

Nuby SureGrip Tableware Range

Remember when you had a little newborn and dreamt about the weaning stage. Getting to feed your little baby, giving them new tastes and seeing them grow independent as they finally learn to feed themselves. Then it happens...

And you're left wondering why you ever decided to buy that cream carpet as your little darling has just thrown their entire spaghetti bolognese on the floor... yeah that.

Giveaway | Teddy Plate & Mug Set from Urbanmummy

I love buying baby items that you know will last the years, that will be a memento and something that they can look back on as they grow through their years. So when I wrote my post on gift ideas for babies first birthday, I knew that there would be a few items in there that would be collectable or something that would be displayed.

I absolutely adore the Teddy Plate & Mug set which is from Urbanmummy. Made from Limoges porcelain, the set features a silver teddy bear in the middle as well as on the edging of the plate and on the handles of the mug. The mug is double handed so is perfect for little ones who need that extra stability when holding a drink with a cute little teddy design.

Gift Ideas For Babies First Birthday

When your baby turns one, it is the most amazing thing ever. Not only do you get to celebrate that your child has finally hit a birthday milestone, but you also get all these memories flooding back of what you were doing exactly a year ago. You will probably write all over social media about 'this time last year I was getting contractions, just about to meet my baby', type statuses.

Looking for inspiration for gifts and really struggling with what to get a 1 year old. Yes, a one year old. Your baby will be turning one, how quick did that go! So today, I am showing you what I, as a mum of three, would recommend as gifts for baby's first birthday.
