Morrisons Ready Meals

I love food. I love cooking food and I love trying new foods. I cook fresh a lot but there are some days that I just have the time or the energy to bring out all the pots and pans and I instead opt for a ready meal.

It is a painstakingly hard process to try and pass on many ready meals to find the ones that actually fit the bill. To find ones that offer variety and big flavours with the nice taste of home cooked meals.

Morrisons have just launched a new range of delicious ready meals which have all been totally revamped and developed by their in-house expert chefs. There are dishes to suit all tastes and preferences – from Italian to Asian so they've got a really diverse offering.

We were sent 4 of their new meals to try out, all flavours from different countries so I could show just what they have to offer. From Indian and Asian, to Italian and traditional English meals.

The Traditional Chicken Dinner was one I really wanted to try as I do love my chicken dinners but they do take forever to roast. It was easy to make, just take out the Yorkshire pudding and set aside, pop the rest into the oven, adding in the Yorkshire pudding 10 minutes before the meal is ready.

I was pleasantly surprised. Not only do you get 2 veg, roasts and stuffing with the Yorkshire pudding, but you also get quite a lot of slices of roast chicken which was just delightful. The sumptuous onion gravy just set the meal off and made it oh so tasty indeed.

The Katsu Chicken Curry with Jasmine Rice is something that I have not tried before and so it was good to see that Morrisons have chosen some new items to add to their ready meal range. From their A Taste of Asia range, this meal includes a tender chicken breast in crisp, panko breadcrumbs with sweet curried coconut, soy and sesame sauce and fragrant jasmine rice.

It is so easy to cook too. You just take out the piece of chicken and pop it in the oven for 20 minutes. Then, just as the chicken in about to come out, stick the rice and curry (in the packaging) into the microwave for 2 minutes, give the rice a stir and you're ready to serve.

I found this so yummy. The fragrant rice worked perfectly with the spices in the curry sauce and the chicken was crispy on the outside and yet juicy inside. It went down so well and was quite filling too.

The M Kitchen Indian Chicken Tikka Masala & Pilau Rice is probably a staple meal to have in a ready meal range. It is a meal that I love and am very picky about which I purchase as they can be so hit and miss with most coming with way too much rice and not enough sauce.

As you can see, the Morrisons meal delivered in spades with loads of creamy masala sauce. This meal comprises of marinated chicken breast pieces in a creamy, medium spiced sauce, served with lightly spiced basmati rice.

Ready super fast, you just microwave for 6 minutes, giving it a stir half way. Lovely as a meal but I also serve it with a naan so I can scoop up all that lovely masala sauce.

I love lasagne but usually make is from fresh as I always find that lasagne ready meals seem to include loads of extras in the mix which I don't want in my lasagne. I just like a good old fashioned one which is exactly what Morrisons have delivered.

Rich beef ragù, egg pasta and béchamel sauce, topped with cheese, as a lasagne should be. This can be cooked in the microwave in 7 minutes but I prefer my lasagne with a crunchy top so opt for the oven which takes around 25 minutes but makes it oh so delicious. Packed full of mince and loads of flavour, it is a very good sized portion too so there's no need for loads of added extras.

I must say that all of these meals of got my tastebuds tickled and ready for more. I especially liked the Katsu Chicken Curry with Jasmine Rice as it's something that I haven't tried before so I will be stocking up on that next time I visit Morrisons!
