When it comes to designing our house and how it looked, I am a very much so into quirky colours, designs and patterns. I am not one for boring cream and magnolia, and instead, every one of the rooms in the house has a different theme.
I love this as it means, as you move through the house, your mood changes by the surroundings and that, in turn, means that I can create a soothing bedroom, yet a bold livingroom. On my search for everything different, I came across UncommonGoods who offer a huge range of quirky home décor to suit any tastes and designs.
UncommonGoods are an online store who are based in Brooklyn, New York and one whom I have totally fallen in love with. Around half of what they sell is handcrafted and they have made it their mission to support and provide a platform for artists and designers to let their creativity flow.
What's more, with every purchase you make, they donate $1 to the non-profit charity as part of their Better to Give program and since starting it 12 years ago, have donated over $1Million to charities around the world. So as you can see, there is a reason that I love this company so much.
So, let's get on to some of what is on offer and what I love. When it comes to accessories for the walls, I think that being different is key. Modern art prints stand out with their designs and usually inspirational quotes which seem to be popular at the moment and you can click here to see some beautiful prints for yourself.
For me, I love wooden prints as it gives a more rustic theme, not that I have that theme through my house, but because I think that they are just beautiful and so to my taste. And it's not just prints, wooden heads sit on our front wall. I've collected them throughout the years whilst travelling and have a few designs as well as framed ones also.
I love a good cushion as much as the next person. I always find that they make rooms more welcoming and the Cushions, throws and blankets on this page are beautiful in that they have animal based ones, food based ones and even a yellow cab pillow.
We used to have a leather suite and so throws were a must, especially in winter, to keep the room feeling warm. I always liked to get patterned ones which just gave that funky edge to the sofas.
Then we go onto something for the little ones and their stuff. The boys love reading and have an extensive range of books. I found some beautiful and funky bookends here which not only will keep their books in line, but also give a fun accessory for their room.
I love to bring my personality to my house and think that is what truly makes it a home. How do you make sure that your house shows off your families personalities?
