Back to School with Clarks‏ Shoes

Mummy Blogging, Yorkshire Blog, Parent Blog,

One thing you have to consider when buying your child's school uniform, is having a pair of shoes that will not only last the duration but are also comfy and suitable for school and I'm sure that every parent knows just how expensive the perfect shoes can run up to. I was dreading buying shoes for Thomas as that meant I was losing my little boy and he was growing into a school boy (yes I am soppy!)

I usually like to put Thomas in pumps or trainers but they both have downfalls where school is concerned, pumps look tidy but are not really great for running in whereas trainers are perfect for playing and running in but not really suitable for school as they look untidy so we decided to look around for good quality shoes.

Clarks shoes are by far the most sought after shoes on the market for children as not only are they made to a high quality but they look the part too. Everyone I spoke to recommended them to me and so I was sold as I always think that word of mouth is a much better advert than some telly commercial or silly slogan.

We were very lucky to be sent a voucher from Clarks to go and buy a pair of shoes for Thomas and even given an appointment to go in and get his feet measured.

Thomas and I went into town to our local Clarks shop and met a lovely sale assistant who happily measured Thomas' feet using a machine that connects with an I-Pad to get the correct size. He came up as a 10G and off we toddled to have a look at the range of shoes.

There were some beautiful shoes to choose from and we eventually settled on our favourite pair which are called Jack Shine black leather shoes, priced at £38 which I didn't think was bad for the quality of the product.
The sales assistant then tried them on Thomas and felt around them a bit to make sure they were correctly fit and then asked Thomas to go for a quick walk around to see what he thought.

It was so nice to have such a lovely experience and great customer service.

Mummy Blogging, Yorkshire Blog, Parent Blog,

The shoes themselves have a thick sole which looks sturdy and very durable as do the 2 velcro straps which also look very well attached. This is good as Thomas does like to hop in and out of his shoes a lot so will be forever pulling at them.

Oh and what's this? There is something hidden in the shoe, a toy in fact.
Each pair comes with a Jack Nano Yotoy which is sneakily hidden under the flap in the shoes itself.
There is also an access token so you can unlock another level of fun on the fantastic free Clarks Jack Nano Racing app.
For more details on how to download from the Apple Store or Google Play click here. Collect all three tokens and race intrepid Jack on the trickiest circuits!

The pair of shoes just oozes style and formality which you want in a par of school shoes. I wanted Thomas to look tidy and he wanted to look like a 'big boy' for his first year at school and these shoes look great with his uniform and make us both happy.

Going to school for the first time was so exciting for Thomas. The usual butterflies of starting somewhere new plus the fear of leaving us for the first time was emotional for us all but Thomas loved showing off his shoes to his friends and going for a run around playing with his classmates. Even his teacher commented on them and how nice they looked.

I definitely know where we'll be going for the rest of the boys shoes, Clarks of course!

  5. Interesting to hear. I've avoided Clarks so far because of the appalling feedback on them I've had locally - perhaps it's just our staff. One child was measured at a size 7 and the staff member came back with a size 10 saying "will these do? We're out of 7s"!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Fabulous review - I always use Clarks for my kids as you can't beat them. If you economise & buy cheap pairs they always need replacing several times over & you end up spending more money in the long run!
