Wednesday Words - Grammar

Ok, now this is going to probably sound totally overboard and ranty but I can't help it. Grammar annoys the heck out of me, or actually, the lack of proper use of it. I know it's such a petty thing to moan about but these are things you learn in primary school so why is it so hard to understand.

'It doesn't matter which is right though' I hear you say. Yes it does! There, their, and they're are different words. They all mean different things and are spelt differently meaning... They are different!

It shouldn't affect (NOT effect) me in such a bad way but I hate it.

So my Wednesday Words post is this... Follow the rules, work out which words fit correctly and use that word.

By the way, just before I finish, number 16 on this list is so annoying when I see people write it. That is not right!

I know people will probably say that by writing about this and moaning, that I am a 'grammar nazi' but I don't care. Doing something correctly isn't wrong so why shouldn't I be able to say what I think, it's my blog at the end of the day!

Wednesday Words

  1. I get annoyed too when I see people using bad grammar. I particular hate seeing bad grammar and spelling mistakes by companies and business especially in this day and age where phones, laptops etc have spelling checker tools to use.

    1. Exactly, most computers and even phones nowadays spell check and check for grammar x

  2. I must admit I am with you on that one !
However, I believe the spell-check is a root-cause rather than a help nowadays.
See messages sent from iPhones on poor predictive texting functions and unchecked ….

  3. I agree! I am a grammar nazi too! Number 16 made me laugh, as I see it so often!

Thankyou for linking up to #WednesdayWords xx

  4. I'm with you on the Grammar Nazi thing too. It makes life so much easier for readers if correct grammar is used. A lot nowadays is just plain laziness as far as I'm concerned.

  5. Totally agree. I read a post on Facebook the other day when someone actually wrote "see's". Aaaarrrrrghhhh!
My kids are a little young now, but it's not rocket science to teach them anything with an apostrophe ends in "is". That is. He is. Where is.
Another huge pet hate of mine is when people make up words. Minimalistic does not exist - the word is minimalist.
I'm a spelling and grammar nazi - and proud. It's better than being a dimwit
